i was using cpufsb and i saved a speed that was too much for my processor, and now every time cpufsb starts (it loads with windows), the computer restarts.
i am looking for a way to stop things from opening on startup, or a way to bypass cpufsb.
any suggestions?
Try safe mode and disabling it. If you can not do it there then again use safe mode and edit the win file. Don't want it loading on startup.
I would go into safe mode and unistall cpufsb, had that happen top me before and thats what I did. Then just reinstall and your all set.

ok.... now if only i could get my safe mode to work.... it runs down a list of drivers and stuff and then just seems to stop.
let it run a while. . safe mode on some PC takes a LOT longer to load than in NORMAL mode.
if you cant get into safemode you can get a boot disk and delete the cpufsb exe in dos

Yeah, my computer seems to take forever to get into safemode(nearly 10min to get to the desktop), so just wait.
Yep, safemode seems to take forever the first time that you use it, and even longer if you are on a network. What OS are you using? One way to disable that cpufsb would be to get into msconfig (if in winxp) and disable it in startup programs.

sometimes that's the best thing to do. you can struggle for hours or just throw in the towel and reload! that's what i was going to suggest to you but you used your head. :)

hehe... i finally figured out that its not just something to give my neck a purpose :)
Yeah formatting is the easiest answer to all software issues. I have a partition dedicated to all things that i'll need after formatting so i can get up and running afterwards. Service packs, patches, game mods, mp3s, etc.... i should make a backup CD but my burner = dead.

thats a really good idea... wish i could have known that earlier :)
Well my way -> make ghost image on other partition and if u make mess -just put good image back in 4 or 5 min.
Its the best way (but most of u know that :))

Actually all he needed to do was hold down the shift key until windows was done loading. That stops all the startup apps from loading. then just uninstall the program or set it back to where you need it.
oh im sorry I didnt even realize that you said you were using a software overclocker...srry bro

Yep sure is.. I had to format 7 times in like 1 month  I couldnt figure out why I was getting a NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND error... I looked at my IDE cables one day, and I put my one 40wire one on my CD drive.. ;) Switched em.. hasnt happened since... lol.. hopefully I can get a backup HDD for either linux, or Im going to try to ghost this HDD the way I format
