I picked one up today... is this any good? It has 400:1 contrast ratio, 140 viewing angel, 16 ms response time, 260 cd/m^2 brightness... I couldn't really find any prices online, but I got it for 350 or so. Good deal? or not?

a 16ms, 17-inch LCD (i assume that it's 17-inches) for $350 isn't a bad deal; it's about $50-$80 less than i paid for my NEC 1760V and probably about the same price as a benq fp767, although the benq has a higher contrast ratio if i recall correctly (500:1 [?])

NEC is one of the leaders as far as quality goes in LCDs. Should be an excellent performer.

Yes that is an excellent LCD and you paid a lot less than I did for mine (mine was $400-something).

Have fun!

yeah, I played a few FPS games and it's working well. No streaking or anything. I got it from Sam's club, it was like open box or whatever, so it ws 50 dollars cheaper than what they were selling it for (400). There are no dead pixels, so guess it was worth taking a risk. But only thing is that there is no DVI connection.

I picked up one of the NEC 1912's at Sam's and am looking for a replacement now. Everything is great except when playing games there is a serious amount of ghosting, especially on the brighter objects. Vice City played great (has a frame limiter built in) but MOH is where I saw the most ghosting. Splinter Cell played fine, but it is a slow game anyhow. If you go to NEC's site you can find the true specs for the monitors, the -12's are the base models. The 17" could have a much faster response. The 19 is listed @ 25ms, which is typical for the 19 inchers I've shopped so far, although there are several models designed for graphics and CAD work Im surmising will give better game. With that exception, the colors are awesome, but since this is for gaming, I'm going to try and improve upon that aspect. And it's nice to not have the flicker.

The 17 inch I have has no problems. I don't see any ghosting or streaking or anything. The contrasts level is good enough. I don't know what the diff is between the MultiSync and this, but seems all pretty much the same.

My 17 incher has had no problems with ghosting or streaking either.

I just picked up 2 NEC LCD 1712's at Sams. Here is where I need a little advice. I'm running Win XP Pro with an nVidia gforce 5200 and a Radeon 9000.

The nVidia is AGP and the Radeon PCI. I'm assuming that I shouldn't have any trouble running the dual displays in the said configuration and all I should have to do is set everything up in my Display settings...correct.

If you have any feedback on eliminating potential headaches I'd appreciate it.

Ciao

Jon

yeah, it should be no problem. I have a similar setup and all you have to do is play with the drivers. I actually bought 2 of these monitors as well and have a dual setup. I have a ti4800se and a radeon 9000 pci.
