monitor problems.. getting old?

For some reason my monitor sort of dims... then turns back to normal. Very subtle but I can tell the difference. It does this not every 10 mins.. but somewhat frequently. Is this a sign of age? or maybe somethin else?

very possible its a sign of age. the monitor i'm using now seems rather dim and blue washed. how old is your monitor?
