If I run an AGP video card along with a PCI card do I take any type of performance hit?

depening on what you are doing. You will find it does take longer for windows to boot up, because it has to initalize the other card. But if you want that extra desktop space it worth it. Just make sure you let bios know which card you want to start the machine is selected. agp/pci so agp card will start be start when you turn it on or vice versa. As for games most games do not support if any support dual screen. so you will see the other screen on the second monitor. other than that it not to bad.
Hope this helps.

I've run a few dual setups before and had ho performance or gaming problems. As long as you keep your AGP card (assuming it is the fastest) as the primary, and the PCI as the secondary, games and applications that take full screen will work fine on the primary display.
There are a couple annoying things though. You can't (at least in win2k, haven't tried in XP) a full screen video on the second monitor. Another is when you play games, the second monitor will change resolutions and look funny. Either just turn it off, or disable it in the desktop properties.
Sometimes certain cards won't play nice together. For example, my G400MAX back in the day wouldn't run right with an ATI pci card, but it was fine with a voodoo3 pci. You might want to do some research if you are going to purchase another card.
