I'm in the market for a Digital Video camera to take some footage of the family but I don't know anything about them? I know I want to go digital so I can post video on the web. If anyone knows about these devices or has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated:)
What specs should I look out for?
Thanks

It depends on how much you want to spend. Personally, I like the MiniDV format - it's not the cheapest, but I like the quality. You may want a still-picture function, or you may not. It's up to you. If you DO go for the still-picture function, you'll probably want at LEAST 1.33 mega-pixels, but you could get away with less - it'll just affect the size of your stills. You should also try to find one that has a CCD (gives you a better picture quality for videos).
I've been looking into MiniDV cameras too. I'm looking at the Canon ZR45MC, Canon Optura 10, and Canon Elura 50. Each seems to be pretty good for the money.
