very carefully, i use a paper towel with very little windex. don't apply to much presure on the lcd when you wipe or you could kill sime pixels.

Definitely don't press very hard at all. You could use some of those cleaning wipes available at computer stores, but a bit of windex will probably be fine.

don't use a paper towel or any tissue, you risk scratching your screen. I used some iklear lcd cleaner made by apple. It cleaned it but left some streaks. But after lightly rubbing it with one of those very soft lint free clothes the streaks came off. And don't use windex, it is bad for both crts and lcds. It eats the anti-reflective coating. Only use a very small amount of water or a suggested noncorrosive cleaner. Also, always remember to lightly rub in the same direction for the whole screen. So from top to bottom the whole way across, or from bottom to top (I read that on some cleaning guide and it really helps to minimize and eliminate streaking if any should occur).

I believe you can get cleaning pads for CRTs and LCDs that won't effect any of the screening coatings. The ones I had were made by Fellows.

paper towel will scratch the screen. i know it was mentioned already but it cant be stressed enough. i knew ahead of time lcd monitors were easy to scratch so almost no pressure was applied to the paper towel at all when i used one and it still scratched it..

you cant see the scratches when the lcd is on but if you turn it off you can see when the paper towel had touched the screen. the texture alone is enough to scratch it (nobody was kidding when they said easy to scratch).

Use a soft lint free cloth.

It's not that I don't believe you, don't get me wrong. But it just seems odd to me that a product would be released that is so easy to damage. I think what you see getting scratched it some sort of coating and not the actual surface of the screen.

Again, I could quite easily be wrong, but it just logically doesn't make sense that they're that easy to damage.

It is. Take a piece of plexiglass or acrilic and place a small piece on the table. Get a paper towel and just place it on the plexi. Place your hand over the paper towel but dont put any pressure on it. Just the weight of your hand is enough. now slide the towel across the plexi. hold the plexi up to the light now and look at it.

Sadly enough, an LCD behaves the same way as far as scratching is concerned.

I have these Kensington Lint-Free Wipes...

I think you can also use Kim-Wipes, which are those green little paper towels used in labs. I work in a lab, so there are tons of those things. But Lint-free wipes are specifically made for cleaning monitors

Doh that sucks. I got the same thing but I also got a nice big bonus. A large fingerprint from a girl going is that a touch screen.. ohhh look at the pretty colors. Ahh no stop now before I snap off your finger.

you can get special wipes at wallmart usually. pretty cheap. Usually in the auto section.
