I'm 14 years old and I would like to have a digital camera but dang these thing are EXPENSIVE !!! And all those cheap one look easy to brake. Is there a middle ? I don't want to take superb pic just somethign with enough quality for nice pic to host on the web. Maybe I should just get a scanner !?!

Scanner would be cheaper, but if you're going 'stationary', why not get a cheap scanner and a decent web cam? This way you can scan photos at high-res and take decent 3d object photos (most web cams are poor quality, but some of the nicer logitechs and such are decent enough for most uses).

Sony DSC P31

Mine! Its entry level and actually pretty nice. I recommend it!

Whats your budget? without that we dont have too much too work with.
There are alot of decent dig cameras these days for a good price. You could go with the whole scanner and web cam deal but you still have to pay for developing fees for the scanner and web cam quality usually sucks and cant go farther then the cable will allow.

I would go for top 200-250$CDN... which is 150-185$us ...

I've looked info on the Sony digicam you posted and it looks neat but a litle over my budget... If I find it somewhere maybe I would get it. The problem with a scanner is that I have to take real picture and then scan them :/

Here are some example of camera that would fit in my budget but I don't know if they are any good:

But what I'm mostly looking for is for something like a Logitech Clicksmart 420 PC Camera or a Creative Labs PC-Cam 550 Web/Digital Camera...

So what do you think...

Fuji makes a better camera than HP, which I have never seen a good review on (their printers are great).

May I suggest this:

it takes decent webready stills and movies. You'll have a lot more fun with it than a still camera. Few other $100 cameras have an LCD screen for playback, this even has a speaker (for movies).

i would get a sony or fuji in that price range. the sonys are awesome

and with that thing on the best buy site, don't expect even a half decent picture or movie with it. those things are cheap as hell

One thing to keep in mind. You'll want a camera with optical zoom. Not just digital. Digital zoom is bad quality. Not even worth using in my opinion. I've got a Kodak 4230. it cost me about $130.00. It takes pretty good pictures. It's a 2.0 MP. It will print nice 5 x 7's for you. Colors are really nice too. You'll have to do a bit of sharpening with your photo editing software though. the photos are nice but seem a bit soft at times. But a little tweaking with your software will fix that.

Over all I'm pretty happy with mine.
