What do you use to get your monitor's settings just right? Any programs, guides, tricks, and links. Post them here.

I use Windows2K for my settings. :D

Seriously, Viewsonic has a color balance utility that tweaks the settings. It is actually quite nice once it is perfect.

Well Kendan, I right click on the desktop (you can also click on display in control panel), select properties, and configure the monitor from there.

Hope this helps.

I try to stay away from Cheap monitor extension leads (for the video cable)as these tend to create a shadow effect on the screen.

Also if using your monitor with a KVM make sure you get a good quality one. Cheap KVMs tend to suffer from the same problems as extension leads.

I don't use extension cables where possible and keep my speakers as far away as possible.

I just fiddle with the buttons on my Compaq monitor randomy for a bit and it looks nice :)

Contrast: 100%
Brightness: 59%
Color Temp: 6550K
Screen Size: As far as the corners, but not over the edge where I cant see anything. I like to get color spectrum pictures, that also have a greyscale picture, and adjust so that the black is black and the white is white. Too much brightness will cause the black to become grey.
