Tommorow I'm ordering comp. Since I had the spare money, I thought I would pick up a Herc Game theater XP and Senn 580's or 570's if I could. However, have to find out if the sound card quality will bottleneck the headphones. Any thoughts, and if the 580's would be bottlenecked, would the 570's?

thanks in advance, and sorry if that didn't make sense. :D

I think the headphones you're considering will be a great purchase.

The GTXP's sound quality is really quite good. With a good source (cd quality music) you'll be impressed by what those headphones have to offer.

AFAIK the Audigy 2 got better sound quality than the Game Theather XP..
Btw I just ordered HD 580's for 140 or so

I just ordered the Senn 590's, I am pretty sure you are going to need to get a headphone amp for them to sound right. I am going to wait and see myself, but I fear that will be the case in the end.

Get the 580's. Now, yeah. They should nice through the game theater. But yeah, they will be bottlenecked.

This is always going to be the case with using a sound card. Don't settle for the 570's just because they're of lower quality "so it doesn't matter", i'm sure you will listen to those 'phones through other cd players, etc.

And unless you really want a true, full sound I don't think you'll need a headphone amp.

Just as long as you don't purche the 600's, which require a headphone amp,:D
