My friend wants a cheap card that he can record songs better than his cheap internal card. Is the SB Live 5.1 a good deal for recording songs?

I don't have the live, but I do have the older X-gammer (pre-audigy) and I use my system to record TV shows all the time and then play them back, it works great.
