I would like to digitally connect my SB live 5.1 to my stereo reciever, to use it as the main output of sound for my computer. Can I use the digital out with a minijack to optical cable (like the ones bundled with a minidisk player) or is the connection coaxial only?

thanks

You can get a device which can convert the signal.

But are you sure that your reciever is not equipped with a coax input? Just asking, as most I have seen have both.

thanks for the link. However I can get an add on card that has optical out for less.

My reciever has both, but all of the coax inputs are used at the moment, and I would rather be able to have all of my crap hooked up at once :), but a good suggestion nonetheless

No problem. Your welcome.

Another Idea. I have a small box I picked up from an electronics store a few years ago. Basically, it consisted of three pairs of rca jacks which were switched to one output set. This allowed me to select from three different sources depending on which switch was activated. I am wondering if something like that would allow you to use multiple inputs on one of your digital coax inputs on your reciever? Might be a cheap way out as it did not cost me very much.
